Range Trotter #F2425 based on this drawing by HowlingHooves
by Taxidea @ Mon May 06, 2024 11:39 am [Reply]

Range Trotters are the result of crossbreeding Orlov Trotters, Finnhorses, Welsh Cobs (section C & D) and Hanoverians. Later crosses of Quarter Horses, Paint and Appaloosas to gain color and to give a boost to their hardiness. With a height average of 13-15 hands, they're a hardy breed with characteristics for various disciplines.

Created for use as work, carriage and leisure riding horses originally, they now serve as long-distance range horses, such as work with Park Rangers and mounted officers.

Willing and eager personalities, most are quickly trained to be bombproof and therefore trusted mounts in all lines of work; some are being seen in local show jumping competitions, others are notably used in therapeutic sessions for their calm temperaments. Harness races and endurance trials are common for the breed, as they are able to sustain an extended trot without tire. Cross-Country competitions see some of the taller Trotters, but due to their cob lineage this is still uncommon.

Despite the variety of competitions and work these horses are being seen in, they are still famously skilled as endurance racers. Many competitors have chosen Range Trotters due to their tireless work ethic, as well as the ease in which they can be trained. Many have become champions in endurance trials, and they have quickly become a sought after breed for their natural ability.

Wild horses of Thalija
The wild horses of Thalija are a friesian like breed with all characteristics of a friesian and a average height from 15 to 17 hands, but even 18 hands can occur. There isn't much known about them yet and we are still discovering more herds and horses to watch their behaviour and their life. Most of them are completely wild, but when we know a bit more about them, maybe we can manage to befriend some of the lonely Stallions and Mares that don't belong to a herd.

Here we have my first-ever trotter marking: angel stripe! This marking is based off of the flame angelfish and adds dark stripes along a horse's barrel. Homozygous carriers, like this trotter, can also display spotting above and below the stripes.

To win this trotter, tell me a pirate joke or pun! My favorite one wins.

Valdiac Warmblood #0117 based on this drawing by Fawntura
by Fawntura @ Wed Apr 24, 2024 1:08 pm [Reply]

The Valdiac Warmbloods were first bred in England and there are 3 main breeds that can be traced that make up these
Warmbloods. These include the Oldenburg, Trakehner and the well known Dutch Warmblood. Originally, Valdiac Warmbloods were bred to show purely in Dressage and Show Jumping due to their powerful jumping ability and precise movements. In recent decades, these Warmbloods have been introduced to a number of different disciplines and riding styles, most notably areas of Western riding. Their numbers are still quite low as they are considered a relatively new breed and the distribution of them across the world is slowly increasing. However, the majority of these Warmbloods are primarily seen in
Europe.

The North American pitcher plant is a master of deception. Beautiful pitcher-shaped traps are actually intricate natural adaptations to capture and digest insects in order to uptake minerals otherwise lacking in soil. Through the use of several different luring and trapping tactics, the plant practically ensures that it will be well fed.
(Source)
With this trotter's goreous skull marking and red flower marking, I knew I wanted to name it after a carnivorous flower - something deadly. "Sarracenia" sounds so pretty, and the flowers look so pretty, but they've got a dark side that you wouldn't expect. I picked the show name "Sorry, Darling" to be a nod to these flowers' deception: they lure insects in with their beauty, just to consume them, and I imagine this show name being said by an alluring woman who's secretly deadly, if you get what I mean.

Range Trotter #4741 based on this drawing by HowlingHooves
by arcadia. @ Mon May 06, 2024 4:02 am [Reply]

This is a Choose-Your-Own-Palette trotter! Like a Build-a-Trotter, it’s a semi-custom. You can use a color palette or you can make one with images. Additionally, I’ll let you choose one white marking. I’ll try to interpret the palette to the best of my abilities (ex. Purple color - death’s touch / blue color - slate) Be sure to use the rarity guide; anything below limited is accepted :D

Been feeling a little rusty lately, so I whipped this kiddo up to remember how drawing works. :3 Apparently I haven't totally lost my touch!

Prompt: My favourite Star Wars character is Darth Maul! I love the combination of martial and mental adeptness that he shows throughout the expanded Star Wars series. Despite all of the pain and hardship he has been through, he is still fighting, refusing to give up even when the galaxy stands in his way. He may be a villain, but I think that that kind of drive is quite impressive and inspiring even if he's directing it towards less then moral ends. Bonus, he looks so epic! Those eyes are ever-captivating.

Prompt: I didn't grow up watching Star Wars, but The Mandolorian came out when I was in college. My friends and I made it a weekly habit to get together and watch it as it came out! Us watching the show really bonded all of us, and I am still really close with that group of friends. All that being said, The Mandolorian himself has to be my favorite! The show was my first real exposure to the franchise, and I finally watched the original 6 films (I was advised against the remakes) to get a better understanding of what was going on. Also, shoutout Grogu because everyone knows he's a cutie.
