Prompt: I'm extremely passionate about birds, one of my favorite bird species is the Blue Jay :3 a cool fact about them would be that they are able to mimic the calls of hawks, especially the Red-shouldered hawk! It is so cool to actually hear and see, I've seen and heard a them a few times mimicking hawk calls and literally thinking there was a hawk outside, only to find a Blue jay sitting there. It's thought by Ornithologists that they do this for one or two reasons: the first is the mimicry serves as a warning to other jays about any lurking hawks and the second is that jays are trying to trick other species of birds into thinking there are hawks nearby. :0 They are some crazy, smart birds and it's been such a joy to watch them everyday! <3

Now, trapped on the pirates' boat, she has no friends to talk to and can't dive into the darker sea like she used to. Instead, she's alone, and in the brighter surface world that her eyes have trouble adjusting to. She's always finding a way to escape and hopes that the good people who saved her from the pirates will return her to her familiar home.

In the meantime, he finds some entertainment in causing as much chaos for the pirates as he possibly can. decided to take in the poor girl as we felt an instant connection to her. we brought her in to our stables. we immediately noticed that she felt unsettled; that something was off. we tried changing her feed, her
bedding, even bringing in an older horse to help her settle down. we were very worried for her, had we made the wrong choice? i personally, was concerned about her happiness, and consequently her health. one day, in the afternoon after we had our annual fundraiser, we noticed that she had perked up. we were confused, very confused. eventually we realized that she felt more comfy with the hustle and bustle of people as well as upbeat music! we eventually figured out that even though she hated being a captive of those stinky, stinky pirates, she enjoyed the commotion of the constant chatter and upbeat sea shanties of the ship, and especially the squawking and crying of the gulls. we now have moved her to the busiest area of our barn and she’s much happier. she loves all the animals that she gets to see! her favourite animals aren’t the other ponies or even our two stable dogs or cats, it’s the sparrows! they roost in her stall and she even lets them sit on her! we realized after so long that our poor drift needed the sounds of the sea life to be truly content <33

Now that Compass had escaped the pirates, she managed to get her revenge by stealing one of their many treasure maps before jumping ship and swimming away. She was able to study it before she took her plunge down into the salty sea, and she was absolutely itching to discover what valuable treasure she could pillage right out from under the pirates noses. She fantasized about gold, fancy pearls, gemstones galore!!! Oh she just had to get to that X that marked the spot.

Thanks to her fins, Compass was able to swim for days in the direction that the map had pointed her in. It had not been an easy journey; she was tired, flustered, and even somewhat tangled up in kelp and marine debris. She was thankful when she finally reached the shore of the fabled island from her map. She hauled herself up onto the beach and shook off all the items hanging off of her legs, tail, and fins. She debated taking a quick nap to regain her strength, but no, she knew she needed to persist and get that valuable treasure.

Compass then found herself trekking through a deep forest. She was tripping over roots and vines, and she was walking face first into spider webs (yuck!). "This treasure had better be worth it" Compass grumbled to herself, now slowly becoming discontent with her spite mission to find the treasure.

After what felt like ages, Compass finally arrived at a clearing in the thick sea of trees - a big red X painted in the middle of the clearing. She excitedly dashed over, suddenly forgetting her aches, pains, and fatigue at the sight of her promised treasure. She began vigorously digging over the X, until she felt her hooves hit something. She gently brushed away the remaining of the sandy soil covering the mystery item; it was a box. Compass stared for a moment, her mind racing with all of the possibilities of what wonders awaited her once she opened the box.

Compass gently placed the box down and gingerly removed the lid that covered this secret treasure. When she looked inside she was met with....

disappointment.

The pirates had planted fake treasure maps on their ship in case of this exact scenario. The treasure this map led to was no treasure at all, it was:

a secret box with a secret string.
